Emma Southgate is a member of The British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) and abides by the BAcC codes & ethics and safe practice.
These cover strict requirements with regards to hygiene and disposal of needles. Only disposable single-use sterile needles are used.
Emma is a fertility and women’s health expert, member of the Acupuncture Fertility Network,
founder of Wirral Fertility Acupuncture and a patient mentor.
With over 20 years in clinical practice for Traditional Chinese Medicine, specialising in acupuncture for fertility, women’s health and pregnancy, Emma has helped countless patients achieve their dreams of having a family.
Emma became interested in acupuncture in her early twenties after three years of suffering from M.E. – “I felt defeated and exhausted after conventional medicine was not working for me. It was the introduction to Traditional Chinese Medicine which was the pivotal shift in my life. I was looking at each symptom as an individual problem that needed to be treated, but by changing my diet, lifestyle and way of thinking, I started on a path to renewed health. I truly believe that acupuncture helped relieve my stress and fatigue and it was then that I decided to study acupuncture and trained at the Northern College of Acupuncture in York in 1998. Later on in my early thirties I had my own fertility issues and after having suffered a miscarriage my interest evolved into specialising in helping others with fertility issues”.
Emma has had a great amount of training and experience in working with women and men with fertility problems and helping them achieve their fertility goal naturally or through assisted fertility and/or IVF. Taking a highly personalised approach, Emma’s clinic offers acupuncture, health and well being advice to support patients throughout their journey.

Hewitt Acupuncture Clinic, Liverpool
Emma Southgate also runs The Fertility Acupuncture service at The Hewitt Fertility Centre at Liverpool Women’s Hospital, dedicated to support you during you IVF, ICSI and FET cycles. Emma runs the service with two other acupuncturists, Pat Levey-Bennett & Norma Rodgers, who specialise in Fertility Acupuncture.
