I have been practising Acupuncture for 20 years. I graduated at the Northern College of Acupuncture in York in 2002.

I started my acupuncture journey after suffering from M.E. at university which led to an interest in alternative medicine to help me through the health crisis I was experiencing. I looked into nutrition & lifestyle to help my mental health and increase my energy & well being.

Throughout my journey, I have studied diplomas in Aromatherapy massage & Reflexolgy. It was on a Reflexology course that I was writing an essay about the Chinese Meridians which flow into the feet that my interest for Chinese medicine began. I visited an acupuncturist in Liverpool who helped me significantly with my energy levels and well-being and helped release a lot of muscle tension in my neck shoulders and jaw area that I had been carrying. As I was leaving the Acupuncture clinic the acupuncturist gave me a prospectus for the Northern College of Acupuncture in York – it was from that moment I embarked on my journey to studying Acupuncture which lead to a fulfilling and fascinating career in Fertility Acupuncture.

I have had a great amount of training and experience in working with women and men with fertility problems and helping them achieve their fertility goal naturally or through assisted fertility and/or IVF. Taking a highly personalised approach, my clinic offers acupuncture, health and well being advice to support patients throughout their journey.

After having my first child I had a miscarriage at 10 weeks, which was both traumatic and exhausting, This experience threw me out of balance for over three months before I regained balance through Acupuncture, diet, Chinese medicine and lifestyle changes. This experience lead me to showing an interest in studying Fertility acupuncture courses to help other people on their fertility journey.

Today I run a successful fertility acupuncture clinic, Wirral Fertility Acupuncture. I also run the acupuncture service at the Hewitt Centre at Liverpool Women’s Hospital offering Acupuncture to fertility patients during IVF. I’m so grateful I am able to support people through their pregnancy journey.

If you are thinking of acupuncture methods for fertility, or acupuncture for other treatments, please get in touch – I am here to help.

Frequently Asked Questions

Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine practice that involves inserting thin needles into specific points on the body to promote healing and balance. It aims to restore the natural flow of energy, or Qi, within the body, addressing various health issues.

Acupuncture is based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), which believes that the body has an energy flow called “Qi” (pronounced “chee”) that moves through pathways known as meridians. When the flow of Qi is blocked or imbalanced, it can lead to pain, illness, or other health issues. Acupuncture involves inserting fine, sterile needles at specific points on the body to stimulate these meridians, helping to restore balance and promote healing. This process also encourages the body’s natural ability to heal itself by enhancing circulation, reducing inflammation, and stimulating the nervous system.

Acupuncture is used to support a wide range of health conditions by promoting natural healing and restoring balance within the body. It can be beneficial for treating pain, such as back pain, migraines, arthritis, and sports injuries. Additionally, acupuncture is often used for managing stress, anxiety, insomnia, and digestive issues.

Acupuncture has also been shown to support fertility by improving blood flow to the reproductive organs, balancing hormones, and reducing stress, which can all enhance the chances of conception. Many people turn to acupuncture for fertility support, whether trying to conceive naturally or undergoing assisted reproductive treatments like IVF.

Acupuncture is generally not painful. The needles used are extremely thin, much smaller than those used for injections or blood tests. Most people report feeling a slight sensation or pressure when the needle is inserted, but it typically fades quickly. Some may feel a mild tingling, warmth, or heaviness in the area as the energy flow is stimulated. If you’re concerned about discomfort, let your acupuncturist know—they can adjust the treatment to ensure you’re as comfortable as possible.

During an acupuncture session, the practitioner will conduct a thorough health assessment and discuss your symptoms and goals. You will then lie comfortably while thin needles are inserted into specific points on your body. The needles are usually left in place for 20 to 30 minutes while you relax. The experience is typically calming and many people find it to be quite relaxing.
